The 1st Annual “Strikes for Tykes” bowling fundraiser was held on Sunday April 3 at Park Tavern Bowl in St. Louis Park, MN. Spring weather has not quite reached the Minneapolis headquarters home of HMCHA, so an indoor activity like bowling was well received. We had 34 bowlers spread over 8 lanes showing off their bowling skills. Those that lacked skills still had a great time 😊
This was a non-competitive event, but prizes were still given away. We had Kristin, Peggy & Micah guess their first game score and came within 5 pins. Sam and Masa had 2 strikes in a row to win a prize. Several bowlers picked up the tricky 7 or 10 pin corner spare. And Lance picked up a very difficult 5-7-9 split. Whether our bowlers won a prize or not, everyone enjoyed the pizza and soda buffet.
The fundraiser raised over $1700 for the kids and families HMCHA serves in Ethiopia. Besides the 34 bowlers, we had 16 lane sponsors giving $25 – $50 – $100 to bless our event. A special “shout out” to Phil Weber at Park Tavern Bowl for donating the 8 lanes for 2 hours of bowling and bowling shoes. The staff at Park Tavern were great a meeting all our bowlers needs; from setting up the bumpers, to finding the bowling ramp for the young bowlers and bowlers in wheelchairs.
We look forward to the 2nd Annual “Strikes for Tykes” in 2023!
